• so yesterday we celebrated ed’s birthday at buca di beppo.  the whole day was so stressful for me because i was lying to him the entire day.  i mean, from the time i got up (which was past 8:30am) til dinner time, i was lying my ass off to him.  i felt bad because i told him that i was going to work late and then going in the afternoon, i was going to take mila with me since work was having these events / activities for the kids and it was going to be easier for me to take her right now rather than pick her up and come back to work.  whew.  a whole string of lies just for a surprise birthday party.  after picking up the cake and the sparkling candles and then dropping it off at the restaurant beforehand, shortie and i headed home.  i was so exhausted by this time that i just wanted to pass out.  but i had to keep up appearances about going to work, blah, blah, blah.  when we finally headed out to buca di beppo’s i was getting a little more anxious – just because i wanted everything to turn out well.  when we got to the restaurant, i went to check in with the hostess and ed noticed that one of his friends he used to work with was there and then he saw joey (his friend from purdue) there too – he finally caught on that there were going to be more of us joining in for his birthday celebration.  anyway, dinner went well and when the cake was brought out, ed was pretty surprised and floored by it.  shortie was so patient about waiting to get her little hands on the cake.  she was so happy when she finally ate some.  here are some pictures of the cake, shortie helping ed blow out the candles and ed pretending to do a battle dj move on the “turntables”
